Ultra-supercritical units with double-reheat cycle have been put into operation in China
their reheat steam temperature control strategy follows the foreign schemes. However
application shows the conventional PID control has many deficiencies in reheat steam temperature control for the double-reheat units. This paper uses the supervisory predictive control(SPC) algorithm to solve the large delay and inertia problem occurred in reheat steam temperature control. Moreover
simulation experiment was carried out on the APROS platform based on the whole plant simulation. The results show that
for control of the average value and deviation of the first and second reheat stem temperature
the SPC algorithm has shorter response time and faster coverage speed than the PID control
especially has better adaptability and robustness under variable load conditions. The simulation results indicate the supervisory predictive control algorithm can be applied to the actual double-reheat units.
